Driving School at Canadian Tire

The franchise of Canadian Tire is taking a new approach to strengthen its presence in the automotive sector. The Canadian Tire Drivers Academy will launch as a pilot program in Ontario, the retailer announced Thursday, and will teach consumers about road safety as well as car maintenance.

Other retailers have improved their sales and consumer loyalty through launching educational clinics relevant to their businesses — yoga classes at Lululemon and run-training programs at Running Room, for example.

Those who complete the Canadian Tire  driving school program will also have an incentive to shop there. Once they finish there class, students will receive discounts and offers on auto products and services and a free year of the retailer’s roadside assistance program.

Classes will launch in Toronto on Aug. 13 at a downtown east Canadian Tire store. Two more will open by the end of the year, he said, and if successful it will be rolled out to other stores across Canada.

In my opinion this is a great idea from Canadian Tire's Marketing staff to  attract more consumers to their company.

What do you guys think?
